Holds

If the book that you want is not available at the library you are visiting and it is owned by the Chesapeake Public Library, it can be reserved with a full service card. Holds can be placed via the Internet or you can complete a reserve card in the library. You will be notified when the book is available. Holds are available for self pickup in all area libraries.

Inter-library Loan

If you want a book that is not owned by the Chesapeake Public Library, it may be possible to borrow it through interlibrary loan with a full service card. This is a network that enables libraries to obtain materials from other libraries on a loan basis. To use this service, please inquire at the information desk.

Loan Periods

Materials may be checked out for two weeks. They can be renewed twice unless the items are on hold for another patron. Renew your materials by phone or online by logging into your library account using your library card number (BCPLxxxxxxxxxx) and PIN.

Overdue Fees

General Materials
$0.20 Per day / $10.00 Max per item
Interlibrary Loan Materials
$0.50 / No maximum

Overdue fines may be paid online. Please note that library accounts are blocked from checking out or renewing if fees are $5.00 or more. Library accounts are suspended for any fees or fines not paid in full after 90 days from the initial date of accrual.
